Our First lecture was Amazing. Thank all for making this happen and all those who attended. We had 40 connections on zoom for an estimated 80 people + the 25 who joined us in person for an estimated 100 people.

The zoom video recording is here:

Some principles of how to stay warm in a power outage and how to cook safely. - Block off a single room of your house and work to bring the temperature up in just one room. This might be the kitchen or another room with a small space to heat and a safe heat source. Close all doors, Hang blankets on the doorways and any windows that don't face south to insulate the space. Bring mattresses into the room and blankets and keep each other warm. -Dress in multiple thin layers. - Ensure the sun can shine in south facing windows to gain all the heat possible during the day. Hang blankets or curtains to insulate overnight to reduce heat loss. - Use safe heat only. No heat is better than poisoning - Stay hydrated with plain water. - Turn off water to the house at the main if there is any risk of the pipes freezing. Or let the faucet at the end of the run drip to keep the water moving to avoid a frozen pipe.

LPT: Cold? Hold a heat source between your thighs. Your femoral arteries will carry the warmth through your body. Such as hot water or chemical heat packet. Using a poncho, blanket, or large coat to make a tent over you and the heat sources will help. Be very careful not to catch on fire or burn yourself especially if you use a flame. You must have ventilation and a way to extinguish if it gets out of hand...
